A
DIVINE APPOINTMENT
Bill and I were on our eleventh trip to
Colorado. He took me later than usual so that I might see snow,
which I love. We left our son's home in Parker, a surburb
of Denver, on October 31, 2011 and headed west on Interstate 70
planning to spend the night in Glenwood Springs. Since that would
take less than four hours, Bill decided we would leave the interstate
at a point and head south to a town named Leadville where we saw some
beautiful scenery, including snowcapped mountains. We then headed
north toward I-70. When we were ten to twelve miles from
I-70 Bill hit a chug hole in the road. At about the same time he
saw a sign which said "rough road," so when the car started riding
differently, he attributed it to the rough road. In a short time
I said, "Bill, I'm hearing a noise." He said he also was hearing
one. We were on a narrow two lane road with no shoulders.
In just a short distance the Lord provided a graveled place where we
could get off. Bill got out of the car and discovered that our
right rear tire still had the tread, but the sidewall was shreaded.
We were out in the middle of no where, but when I
got out my cell phone we had service. Recently Bill had said, "I
don't know why we keep paying AAA. We have never used
them." We got out our Triple A card and called them. The
lady asked for our location. All I could tell her was the number
of the highway and that we were headed north from Leadville and that I
thought we were about ten miles from I-70. She said she would
list us as a priority since we were stranded by the road. In
about 30 minutes a man in a truck from a Shell station on the
interstate pulled up. In a very short time he had our bad tire
off and the spare on. We had never used it so it was low on
pressure, but when he aired it up it held the pressure (another of
God's provisions). The young man said that there was a
Walmart in a town just after we reached the interstate. We
headed out slowly on the donut spare and found the Walmart. They
didn't have the tire we needed, but called another tire store in town
which had one. They also had a waiting room with couches and
coffee. They told us this is their busy season because many
people want new tires before the snow comes, so we would have a wait.
Bill and I sat down in the waiting room. We
noticed a younger man sitting on another couch. Bill moved over
and began talking to him. I listened as they talked. In a
little while Bill left to check on the car. I moved over and
began talking to the man. After I found out a little more
about him including his first name (Brian), I then asked him if he was
a Christian. He said yes so I asked him when he became a
Christian. His reply was, "When I was born." so I knew he had
never been born again, The Lord gave me the opportunity to talk
to him about his need and to share some scriptures with him, including
John 3:16. He listened very politely and then he had to leave, because
his truck was ready and our car was also ready. I don't even know
his last name, but God does, and I am praying that God will bring him
into contact with other Christians who will also share the Good News
with him. I hope you will join me in praying for Brian. I do know
he lives in Alma, Colorado, and has a snow plow business
.
I'm so grateful for what I believe was God's divine
appointment. The tire problem took some time, but put us in the
right place at the right time.
P.S. On two different mornings on our trip I woke up to snow all
over the ground and trees. Bill had prayed I would get to see snow on
the trip. We serve an awesome God.
